A Walk in the Park With Some Fun Guys. . . um I mean fungi.

Kaili and her friend, Maddie, invited me to join them on a hike this afternoon.  The weather was beyond beautiful- clear and cool, still air and perfect for walking- so of course I said YES!
We went to Seal Bay Nature park where the seals and a few shore birds watched us meander along.
There was a really cool bridge. . . (the girls were bouncing on it . . . no thanks!)

It is at the bottom of a really nice path through a fern filled gully.

I thought this piece of stump looked like a little dog standing on its hind legs begging . . .do you see it?

There was lots of interesting fungi hanging around too. . .

The back story is- yesterday when Kaili asked if she could go for a hike with her friend today, I started reminding her of the all chores that needed doing at home.  She figured out  that I would like to go, so she offered to get some of the chores done and invited me to join them.  It was awesome- thanks ladies!!!

Christmas Quilts

2013-12-25 09.11.34-1

These are the lap quilts my family received for Christmas this year.

Another “Doh. . .” moment and a bit of self-love-

Lap Quilt
I made Ron and the 3 kids each a lap quilt for Christmas this year.  They have all been snuggling into them in front of the TV, and I realized I had made them in part because I wanted one.  I felt almost guilty making something for myself, but I finally sat down and made one for ME!  It is really soft and furry on the back side- I used an inexpensive blanket from Costco as the backer.

The “Doh” moment happened this morning when I got ready for an appointment, decided it was still a bit too early to leave and started doing a few other things.  The next time I looked at the clock I was supposed to be across town. . . DOH!  I guess I get to try again tomorrow morning!
